Wastegate spring

Hello Everybody! Again )))

Search for new wastegate spring. Maybe somebody know partnumber of it?

Hi,

I do not find the partnumber but I can recommend a well known tuner based very close to Ingolstadt. He was selling tuning springs for the Wastegate in different stages in the past.
I bought one few years ago for approximately 35€ in order to get my 5T with a Typ44er Wastegate back to the right level of boost pressure. Still some 0,1bar missing but I am not done so far :wink:

The name of this tuner is Alfons Hohenester, you can find all details on his website http://www.hohenester-sport.de/?Motorsport
The spring was listed earlier in his web-shop but I just checked his webside and the shop is empty. If you are interested I can call the shop to figure our if teh springs are still available.

Hi,

you mean 1,2bar over pressure boost or just 0,2bar boost?
If you have too much boost than sometimes the reason is a blocked pressure pipe from the exhaust. There is a small pipe from the exhaust which delivers the pressure which actuates the valve. The early version is a one piece part which is smaller in diameter and sometimes get blocked by soot particles or damaged/cracked by the vibrations.
Or maybe the caliper in the wastegate just got stucked?
Have you checked the diaphragm?

I will call them in the next days. I need another spring anyhow for my Papamobil.
Now I have some supportive motivation to call them :mrgreen:

Overpressure, arrow on first mark after 1 bar.
All pipes are clear, valve in good condition. 100% it's spring, 37 years in work :D

Hm, sounds strange that the spring looses it´s springforce... I´ve never heard about this issues before :roll:
Maybe some other 5T specialists can share there experience about such a failure indication with us?
I am still convinced that you have either a mechanical issue or a leakage issue causing this low boost pressure...
But I am always happy to learn and appreciate any advise :D
