I'm going on a vacation next week, and I'm planning on visiting Germany, Netherlands, Belgium and Switzerland. I'll be driving my Audi, and I need to make sure that it complies with the EU laws, since I can't afford to pay fine anywhere outside of Balkans. So here are some questions I have:

- I have an LPG fuel system (certified), I guess I need a fire extinguisher?
- I have additional fog lights and long beam lights up front, will they pose a problem if I get stopped by the police, since they aren't factory-installed?
- I have M+S tires on all four wheels, does my spare tire has to be M+S also?
- I have a factory-installed towing hitch, do I need to take it off before entering the EU?
- I always carry a reflecting vest, warning triangle, first aid kit, towing cable, spare wheel and jack, and a spare set of light bulbs in my car. Is there anything else I need to have?

I'll probably think of something else in the meantime, but so far this is it.

I'm fairly confident in my car, but I cannot disregard the fact that it's old and has covered over half a million kilometers so far. So I'll carry some spare parts as well. I was thinking of taking along the entire electrical system (Steuergerät(?), ignition coil, distributor and cables), maybe some hoses and clamps... any suggestions?

I think, in CH you won't have any problems with the car. But remember: When you entering switzerland you are leaving the EU and on the border they can ask you for receipts on your spareparts. 300€ per person are taxfree.

If you will use the swiss higway, a fee of abort 30€ must be paied (Autobahnvignette)

best regards
Dario

Dario, thanks for the response!

300€ per person is not a problem, since Switzerland will be on our way back, and I doubt we'll have more than that left. The parts I'm planning to take with me are all used, and I don't have receipts for them, but I could get one from the local scrapyard if that's necessary.
As for the vignette, they are mandatory basically everywhere but Germany, so I've already planned them as trip expenses. Also, when I visited last year I noticed you don't have LPG on your gas stations, so I'm guessing I'll be driving on petrol while in CH.

I didn't want to put my foot down (it's an old car, after all), so my cruising speed was about 110, and LPG consumption at that speed was 10 liters/ 100 km, which served as a great reminder how economical this car actually is.

The current status of my grandmother's backyard:

The dark green C2 to the left of the picture is very restorable, so I'll try to find it a good home. On the right, the silver one is past the point of no return in terms of rust, but it'll donate some nice goodies before it's demise, such as power locks and windows, electric antenna, and parts needed for repairing the sunroof on the red one.

In front of C2s is the newest addition to the fleet - a C1 Zweiturer I got about a month ago. I hope to start the restoration process come springtime.

Hi,

if you have a problem with sliding roof: I have got two Audi 200 that have much too much rust, so you can have a complete roof electric powered.

Hi Joe,

I'm very interested in buying the sunroof from you!

On another note, I have an interesting achievement to share :D
Licence plates in Serbia are in format [City] [Three numbers] [Two letters] and they are issued sequentially. So, first licence plate in one city is 001-AA, then 001-AB, 001-AC etc. I let the registration expire on my red Audi last April, and it's been parked since then in anticipation of a certain licence plate to become available. It took some chocolate to get on the good side of the ladies who issue registrations, but they eventually gave me a call last week:

I'm so happy right now

THIS is really cool! So your Audi 100 GL has got the 16800th registration in Sabac!

I see the pictures of your Tour d'Europe but now. Not many owners here dare to make such long journeys. But ýou seem to have prepared your Audi pretty well... Good luck for the next trip.
Viele Grüße - Michael
